Dr. Douglas Baker, Founder and CEO

Dr. Baker received a BS from Eastern Illinois University and a BS, MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He has published several papers on modeling the thermodynamic behavior of internal combustion engines and has done engine research under fixed price contracts for General Motors, Ford, AVL North America, McLaren Engines, Baker Engineering, Walt Disney World, University of Michigan, Dept. of Energy (Oak Ridge National Laboratories), and Dept. of Defense (Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center and Naval Air Warfare Research Command). He has developed and validated many proprietary software tools for doing this analysis.

Doug has worked on engines since his childhood in Illinois. In 1990, he served as director over all mechanical and automotive resources of a district in Papua New Guinea. In this position, he was responsible for keeping all automotive resources operating, a challenging assignment with the minimal support services available. Dr. Baker’s background combines the analytical rigor and depth of a PhD with an extensive hands-on background and the intuitive ‘feel’ for engines such experience provides.
